I am not much of a morning person. I love to sleep in and I love staying up late. You could call me a “night owl” because nights are more in my favor… But having two kids who like to wake up at the crack of dawn, I have to get my morning game plan and a schedule to have a better and more successful morning or else I will end up binge watching Netflix all day.
Archer always ends up in our bed by time morning comes. I normally like to wake up and spend a few minutes with him alone chatting about life and hearing all about his dreams without his lil bro in the picture. It gives us some good time to spend just the two of us since jealousy comes into play once Wild is around.
I always hurry and do my skincare routine before heading downstairs. You can checkout my current skincare routine here.
Next thing I do is I try to make my bed the second I get up. If I make my bed I automatically have a better attitude and that makes for a better day. I make our bed and straighten our room and then I moved into the boys rooms. I always have Archer help me make his bed so he learns about cleaning and chores even at a young age. We grab Wild out of his crib and then we straighten his room up.
Once downstairs, we let our dogs outside and open all our blinds. By opening my blinds every morning it also helps put me in a better mood and into a “accomplish” mode. Plus I feel that it feels so airy and clean that it just makes me so much more happy. If the weather isn’t too hot I will open a few windows and our screen doors and let the fresh air come in! I love it.
(PS ignore my shadeless lamps, I cannot find lamp shades that I love for the life of me!)
Now it’s time for breakfast. I’m not a huge breakfast lover because I’m not a huge morning lover so I like simple and easy breakfast ideas for the boys and I or else breakfast doesn’t get made. When T is at work, I don’t like to use many dishes or make full course meals so I am all about the easy and simple food life. Being introduced to Jimmy Dean Simple Scrambles® makes my mornings so much faster and cleaner. We pop it into the microwave, make our yummy breakfast and all sit down and enjoy it together. They are great for busy mornings like I always seem to have and they are fairly inexpensive! You can find them in the refrigerator aisle at your local Walmart. The boys love them and will share one, I love them and they are easy and mess free! All moms need them and I promise it’ll make your mornings a lot quicker! We sit and eat our breakfast and I make a list of my “to do” for the day. T grabs one and eats on his way to work because they are so easy!
After breakfast, I try to do a load of dishes. Emphasis on the try because I loath Dishes. I normally skip them and leave them for T to do when he gets home but sometimes if i’m feeling a good morning, I will do them. The boys play while I do some general pickup/cleaning and my #1 morning tip is listening to my favorite songs through our Bluetooth lightbulb that we have in the kitchen. Music always makes things better! Right now I am streaming “The Greatest Showman” soundtrack and both kids love to dance along with it! We head upstairs and get ready for the day and then Wild goes down for his first nap and I hit the office and start my daily work load.
Having a game plan for mornings really does make everything so much better and easier. I find I am a better mom with a set morning plan and it makes a cleaner, organized home if I get up and get my stuff together! Even the busiest moms can make sure they have a good morning by following a few basic everyday things. Hopefully these little tips will help you get the best morning possible!
