Welcome to Sincerely, the Blonde! A little about myself + my life- My name is Shalyn, I go by Shay; Joey; S; Muff; you name it, I will most likely answer. I have been married to my hunk of a husband for 4 years now. We were babies when we met at the age of 14 & 15 and somehow lasted all through high school together (since 2009 to be exact) and got married in July of 2013 in our small home town. We always had big dreams and big wishes to live our life. I graduated high school with my Associates Degree in General Science but somehow did not know what “I wanted to be when I grew up.” Shortly after getting married, T headed off to basic training for the Utah National Guard. I live alone and attended Dixie State University. I’d like to tell you it wasn’t a waste of time but sadly it was. I still could not decide what I wanted to spend my life doing. Nothing stood out to me on what my daily life wanted to look like. After a semester of countless tests, hours into studying, I decided I was going to take a break until I knew what I wanted to exactly do with my life.
T came back 6 months later and we knew that we wanted to start “trying” for a baby. We had been married almost a year and just wanted that extra something in our lives. Months went by and it just wasn’t working out for us. We seeked guidance from our Dr and we started some pills to help get us that baby. I have all the symptoms of PCOS but the tests came back negative. I guess women occasionally can have that type of thing. In February of 2015 we were blessed with a 8 lbs 22 inch baby boy. We named him Archer and boy was he the highlight of our life. He was the cutest little chunk there was and life became 10x better. You can read all about his birth HERE.
We always knew that we wanted kids somewhat close together, so decided to start to try again for baby #2 a month before Archer’s first birthday. We instantly started our meds and months just went by and no baby came. We upped my dosage of the pills and all within a few days I broke out in huge hives all over my body. This is where life got a touch rocky. I ended up in the ER one night because hives were coming into my throat. I told the ER dr that there was a chance I was pregnant and I did not want to take anything that could hurt my baby. He assured me all was good and prescribed me prednisone. A few weeks went by and we got that + sign on that pregnancy test and we were SO happy. We told family and friends, but I started to feel “not right.” I started to develop perinatal depression. I didn’t feel like myself at all, I didn’t want anyone to know I was pregnant, I struggled big time. We found out at a fun clinic that we were having another boy. We really wanted another boy so they could be best friends and grow up close together but I still wasn’t quite happy over everything. We went in at 16 weeks to see our baby boy again and that is when life got rocky. (here is a blog post during this time in our life– HERE) We had then found out that our sweet baby boy had a unilateral cleft lip and possible palette. I won’t go into a ton of details on my about me but if you are wanting to hear more about the journey we went through, you can look for it right here.)
Flash forward through all the pain and heartache, we welcome Wilder into this world in March of 2017. A chunky 8 lbs 10 oz baby boy who stole our hearts over again and our love doubled for our two boys. You can read about his birth HERE. Throughout these last months we have had to travel 10 hrs RT to his doctor from May-August, he has completed one surgery and gotten his lip fixed, he will go back around his first birthday for another surgery, when he turned 2-4, and 5-6 will be other surgeries.
We were happy in Utah but we just needed something else. We just felt in such a slump and never felt truly happy. One night we decided to check out jobs on the internet, after much consideration we decided to pack up and move out family to Arizona. We bought our first house here and are so far loving it! We have some exciting news to share but for right now you’ll just have to wait until we decide to release it.

Do you wear extensions?
Yes! I normally always have extensions in. I normally purchase through Laced Hair and do the beaded application.
What color do you dye your hair?
My awesome hair stylist starts by putting 5N on the whole bottom of my hair and then slices on my hair line then goes in with lightener and 30 volume developer for my all over root retouch with soft hair painting on 1/3 of my roots for a softer look, then we tone it out using redone shades EQ mixing 9T (chrome) and 9B (sterling) for a soft silvery finish. If you don’t understand that just tell your hair stylist this and she/he will know what to do!
What is your favorite shops to buy clothes for your boys?
I have SO many different favorite shops that I shop with for them! They are my favorite little thing to buy for! I shop a lot of small shops off instagram and etsy but some of my go to stores are HM, GAP, Old Navy, Zara, Children’s Place, & Nordstrom!
